Rute Morais Peixoto is a Portuguese interdisciplinary artist and architect based in Helsinki, Finland. Combining visual art, architecture, and music, her practice delves into themes of perception, memory, attachment, compulsive geometrical alignments, and the pursuit of singularities in the ordinary. It spans collage, painting, songwriting, media art, interior and building design. Morais Peixoto’s work has been exhibited in venues across Finland, Portugal, and Slovenia.
Holding an MArch with distinction from the Faculty of Architecture of Porto, she also studied at University of Ljubljana and the Music Conservatory of Porto. Morais Peixoto has collaborated with renowned studios, including Souto de Moura, Siza Vieira, Fala Atelier, and Lundén Architecture Oy, and has taught at Aalto University.
Her main ongoing project, Living Rooms, has been supported by two working grants from Taike. The current series focuses on displaced individuals and the emotional connections they form with intimate rooms.
